An exhibition of Olympic memorabilia is in Kiama today as part of a country-wide travelling show.
The AMP Ignite The Dream tour features torches from the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games up to Sydney 2000 as well as historic merchandise ranging from T-shirts to entry tickets.
The free exhibition spent the weekend in Wollongong at Beaton Park Leisure Centre in Gwynneville and was launched by Lord Mayor George Harrison.
``It was very good. I think this kind of thing really excites the Olympic spirit in the local people," he said.
``And it reminds people that the Olympic flame will actually be passing through our city."
Mr Harrison was also presented with a cauldron to house the flame, which will be set up in the foyer of the Wollongong City Council building on Kembla St.
The tour, which is also accompanied by former Olympians, has been on the road since September and will have travel more than 30,000km visiting more than 140 locations around Australia before finishing in Sydney on December 13.
The exhibition opens today at noon at Hindmarsh Park, Terralong St, Kiama.
